Two days back in childhood

Posted by Soph (Enghien, Belgium) on 3 August 2007 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Well, I found 2 photos in my old files and i'd really like to share them with you. The reason is my nostalgy of the moment... I'm building my house with all the projects that come with, I sometimes need to go back to childhood, to take back some breath of unconcern.

So, this friday and this saturday, you'll see photos of the beach of my childhood. De Panne, again and again the north of Belgium, yes... There is something, there.... good atmosphere.

De Panne is the last belgian beach before coming in France, in the north-west of Belgium. So, it's a place of the seaside where most of the people speak French (easier for me to understand), where old people from the south of the country buy houses for holidays or reprocess. It's also a very touristic beach, it's more expensive to take a flat in De Panne for a weekend than a room in a hotel for 2 weeks on the Costa Brava in Spain! I couldn't believe it when I saw the prices!

I guess it was less expensive when I was 10 years old! It's where I went for the holidays of summer every year, with my grandmother. She knitted on the beach as I was playing with my friend.

I love everything there. I never can go to the seaside without coming back with shells, I love to come back with sand in my shoes, I love to take a shower in the evening when my skin smells the salt of the sand and the water from there... I love when it's sunny and even more when it's a little rain that we call "bruine" in French. It's like the water that goes out a brumisator, like if you go through a cloud. I love when the sky looks so heavy that you don't know where it melts in the sea.

I'll give your comments to my boyfriend, because he tooks that photo (and the next one too)... I imagine when I'll be old and I'll see that gallery... I think I'll be glad and I'll give all those explainations to my grandchildren!

I wish you a very nice day!
