Westhoek

Posted by Soph (Enghien, Belgium) on 30 July 2007 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Hello everybody!

Here is the picture for today. The white sand, the hot sun, the quiet farniente... all you need to start this new week very well.

The picture was taken in the Westhoek, in the North of Belgium. It's a word in Dutch and it means the "West corner". Indeed, it's at the west extremity of Belgium. It's near "De Panne", the beach of my childhood, where I went every summer to take a month of holidays with my grandparents. There is a part of The Westhoek in France, it's the area around Dunkerke and it's the last place in France where people still talk Dutch. Older generations, I think (I'm not sure)

The Westhoek is also a natural reserve to have a great walk, sit down for picnic, take wonderful photos and enjoy the wild life of the dunes....

I hope you'll start a very good week...
